Nathan Frisdman-Yellin, former leader of the Sternist Group, today told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that there was no basis in fact in the report which the United Nations World carries in its current issue to the effect that the Sternists have established headquarters “somewhere in Italy” and dispatched from there letters to leaders of countries behind the Iron Curtain threatening them with terrorist reprisals for anti-Zionist activities.
“The allegations in the United Nations World article of threatened terrorist acts fare all lies,” Mr. Friedman-Yellin said. It was true, he stated, that the Sternists have agents in various countries, including countries of Eastern Europe, but they are all there with the permission of the respective governments and their function is to organize the migration of Jewish youth to Israel.
Occasionally these agents meet, but only to discuss organizational problems and the distribution of manpower according to the changing needs, the former Sternist leader declared. He added that there was definitely no meeting of these agents in Italy on June 22, as reported by the United Nations World. “We still consider Britain as Israel’s enemy number one,” he emphasized.
