British Chief Rabbi Acts to Safeguard Religious Interests Against Calendar Reform

Chief Rabbi Israel Brodie of Britain has formed a special committee to safeguard Jewish religious interests in the observance of the Sabbath which may be affected by the proposed calendar reform which will be submitted to the United Nations by Panama, it was announced here today.

The committee, headed by Rabbi Brodie, includes members of the Rabbinical Court and local branches of major national and world organizations which enjoy consultative status with the U.N. Economic and Social Council. The latter groups are the Board of Deputies of British Jews, the Anglo-Jewish Association, the World Agudas Israel and the World Jewish Congress.
