Tisha B’av Will Not Be Abolished Because of Establishment of the Jewish State

Neither Tisha B’av, which marks the destruction of the Temple, nor any other fast days in the Jewish calendar have been abolished as a result of the establishment of the Jewish state, the Chief Rabbinate of Israel ruled today. The ruling followed a query by the rabbinate of Turkey.
