The ninth anniversary of a program which in the summer of 1940 cost the lives of 50 Jews in the town of Dorohoi, Moldavia, was commemorated this week-end by a solemn procession to the local Jewish cemetery where the victims are buried.
Representatives of the civil and military authorities of the town took part in the procession. Later, a memorial meeting was addressed by delegates of the Jewish community, the Jewish Democratic Committee, and the Rumanian Workers Party who emphasized that the pogrom, as well as the Jassy massacre which followed it, were “logical consequences’ of the policy of racial, discrimination fostered by the prewar governments in Rumania.
