The Central Committee of the Jewish Refugee Organization in Italy will shortly be liquidated, it was announced here today. The closing down will be completed no later than October, 1949.
The Joint Distribution Committee has suggested to DP. leaders that the Jewish committee in Italy could take over the duties of representing the DP’s whenever necessary. The Refugee Organization, which was first organized in 1945, immediately after the war’s end, has been the only body representing the DP’s in this country, during that period.
