Lucien Grand, known as the “one-armed torturer of Drancy,” the chief Nazi concentration camp for French Jews during the war, was this week-end sentenced to 20 years at hard labor for crimes against the Jews.
Grand was the chief defendant of a group of seven members of the Paris police force who served in a similar capacity under the Nazis during the occupation of the French capital. The other defendants received the following sentences: Joseph Topfert, 15 years; Henri Stinzi, seven years; Maurice Topin, Etienne de Spagnot, and Pierre Duinnon, five years each; and Jean Normane, three years and a fine of 120,000 francs (approximately $400).
