While opposing liberalization of the U.S. DP immigration law to admit more Jewish and Catholic DP’s, Sen. Pat McCarran, chairman of the Senate Immigration Subcommittee, today said at hearings on DP legislation that he is exceedingly sympathetic to Germans who would like priority to enter this country. Sen. McCarran has bottled up in committee the House-approved Celler Bill to admit over 300,000 DP’s within three years.
