Trial of Ex-army Officer Held Responsible for Mistaken Execution of Toblansky Resumes

The trial of former Lt. Col. Isar Beeri, accused of responsibility for ordering the summary execution of Meir Tobiansky on charges he supplied military information to the enemy in Jerusalem last year and who was later exonerated, resumed in a Hehovot magistrate’s court today. The accused entered a plea of not guilty.

The prosecution’s indictment maintains that the court-martial of Tobiansky was not competent since the necessary-legislation for ordering the execution of alleged traitors was not in existence at the time. Among the first witnesses to be called to testify are the brother and niece of the late Tobiansky.
