Hadassah will continue to maintain a separate fundraising drive in the United States, Mrs. Rebecca Shulman, Hadassah liaison officer here, today told a press conference. She stressed that Hadassah’s educational work and its fund-raising activities are indivisible.

Mrs. Shulman, here on a two months visit, said that she had explained Hadassah’s position to Premier David Ben Gurion. She said that the Premier indicated he understood the position clearly and appreciated the need for independent fund raising for its projects, which are not included in the United Jewish Appeal.

Regarding Hadasah’s current medical work, Mrs. Shulman said that the organization is determined to maintain its leadership in the field under all circumstances, accepting a full share in the medical problems brought by the tremendous immigration. She said that Hadassah would be particularly active in the field of tuberculosis, preventive medicine and the expansion and promotion of curative facilities in hospitals and clinics. Hadassah will also expedite plans for the development of the medical school for Israel.
