Dr. William M. Schmidt, former overseas director of the Joint Distribution Committee medical program, said here yesterday that Europe’s Jews are now predominantly healthy. Although rehabilitation is still vitally needed in Europe, the emphasis has shifted from the Europe, the emphasis has shifted from the European scene to instituting a health program for the nearly 900,000 Jews living in Moslem countries, Dr. Jacob Golub, chairman of the J.D.C.’s medical division with whom Dr. Schmidt conferred, stated.

Dr. Golub revealed that during the past two years, the J.D.C. spent $5,000,000 in its medical aid program. A monthly average of 75,000 Jews in Europe are still receiving medical aid in J.D.C.-supported institutions, he declared.
