The Jewish National Fund in Jerusalem has established a department for the recovery and transfer of Jewish property looted during the Nazi rule in Europe, the J.N.F. here announced today.
The announcement added that “all claimants in the United States are requested to communicate with the representatives of the Fund in New York.” The new department’s work is “being conducted in consultation with the Government of Israel and the Jewish Agency,” it was added.
In placing its facilities at the disposal of individual claimants, it was explained, the J.N.F. was “motivated by the desire to salvage whatever resources we can for the reconstruction and building of Israel.” To date, 8,000 claims emanating from individuals and groups in 17 countries have been processed in Jerusalem.
