Nearly 30,000 Turkish Jews have emigrated from this country to Israel in the last 12 months, it was learned here today. As a result the Jewish population of Turkey has been reduced by some 40 percent.

Last month the number of emigrants passed 2,000, about the same figure as in the previous month. It is estimated that this monthly peak will be maintained for a while longer until a backlog of some 5,000 prospective emigrants leaves, after which the emigration of Israel-bound Jews will lose its mass exodus character.
