Dual loyalties of the American Jews to the United States and to the people of Israel do not represent any danger to this country, Will Maslow, general counsel to the American Jewish Congress, told the nationwide conclave of the Labor Zionist Organization of America today.
Mr. Maslow charged that the “propaganda campaign of the American Council for Judaism against dual loyalty is, therefore, not only unwise and unnecessary, but is serving the needs of widespread anti-Semitism in this country.” He also lauded the increased interest of Jewish groups in the U.S. in problems not exclusively Jewish and warned that the “assimilationist mentality” was still preventing the growth of a “dignified, secure and strong Jewish community in the United States.”
Earlier, the Youth and Chalutziut commission of the L.Z.O.A. discussed ways and means to promote colonization of young men and women in Israel. The conference, called to discuss the reorganization of the Labor Zionist movement in this country and attended by 400 delegates from all sections of the U.S., will continue through the week-end.
