The “dedication of the new (biophysics) unit of the Weizmann Institute of Science is a fitting symbol of the progress of the State of Israel,” President Truman declared in greetings to President Chaim Weizmann, which were read last night by Israel Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett at a banquet, concluding the ceremonies attending the opening of the new department.
Foreign Minister Sharett also read a message from M. Vavilov, president of the Soviet Academy of Science, in which he expressed his regret at his inability to attend the ceremonies and sent his “heartfelt best wishes for the great achievement by Israel in advancing peace and cooperation among the nations.”
