The Israel Communist Party has reversed its stand on Jerusalem and now favors the internationalization of the city, Kol Haam, Communist organ, announced today.

The newspaper published a resolution adopted by the party admitting that it committed an “opportunistic mistake” when it failed to realize that rejection of a part of the United Nations partition decision of 1947 required rejection of the whole plan. An attempt to solve a single aspect of the problem without appreciation of the party’s role in the fight against imperialism has practically led the Communists to oppose the Soviet Union’s backing of internationalization of Jerusalem, it was pointed out.

Sources here attribute the party’s action to the reported arrival here of a Cominform member who is said to be investigating the actions of Shmuel Mikunis and other leaders of the party.
