Members of the European executive committee of the World Jewish Congress started deliberations here today on a number of urgent problems, chiefly concerned with the situation in Germany.
Dr. Nahum Goldmann, acting president of the Congress, met today with Hector McNeil, British Minister of State, in connection with the release of German assets in Switzerland for the rehabilitation of Nazi victims in accordance with the decisions adopted at the Reparations Conference in Paris.
At a press conference held earlier, Dr. Goldmann predicted that U.N. Secretary-General Trygve Lie will report–next month or in March–that the decision to place Jerusalem under international trusteeship cannot be implemented. Dr. Goldmann said that the United States would then help to find a solution on the Jerusalem issue which would be acceptable to Israel and Transjordan without defying the United Nations authority.
