Hamilton Fisher, United Nations press officer, denied at a press conference here reports that the armistice agreements between Israel and the neighboring Arab countries will be invalidated at the end of one year after the pacts were signed. “The armistice agreements can be superseded only by peace treaties,” he said.
Mr. Fisher revealed that the U.N. Palestine Conciliation Commission approached both Israel and the Arab states several times to initiate direct peace talks.
