Frifttly Arab Governments Vital to American Security, Naval Chief Telis House

Admiral Forrest P. Sherman, Chief of Naval Operations, told the House Foreign Affairs Committee that the ability of Near Eastern states to maintain governments friendly to the U.S. “is of great strategic importance.”

“The security of the Middle East is vital to the security of the U.S.,” he said. The Admiral testified before the committee as a spokesman for the Defense Department. He asked that legislation to aid the Arab refugees be adopted.
