The files of papers of Dr. Theodor Herzl, founder of political Zionism, which were discovered in the library of the Vienna Jewish Community last month, were handed over today at a solemn ceremony to Dr. David Lewin, Israel representative in Austria. Also present at the ceremony were Dr. Joseph Schwartz, European director of the Joint Distribution Committee, and leaders of various Jewish organizations in Vienna.
The Jewish community here today also handed over to Dr. Lewin 3,200 religious and medical books for the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
