The demand that the Israel Government grant legal status to the World Zionist Organization and to the Jewish Agency was advanced in a resolution adopted today by the Committee on Basic Problems appointed by the Zionist Actions Committee now in session here. The resolution will be submitted to the plenary session of the Actions Committee for a vote tomorrow.
The resolution also requests that the World Zionist Organization be considered by the Israel Government as the only representative of world Jewry vis-a-vis Israel. Any other foreign Jewish organization conducting welfare or philanthropic work in Israel should discharge its duties with the approval of the World Zionist Organization.
The resolution also recommends that the Actions Committee agree to the establishment of a development authority to plan, direct and execute functions concerning immigration of Jews to Israel and their absorption into the Jewish state. This new body should be composed of representatives of the government and the Agency on an equal basis. The committee appointed a subcommittee to bring to the next World Zionist Congress recommendations with regard to the future of the Jewish National Fund and the Keren Hayesod.
