After a 22-hour uninterrupted session, the South African Parliament today passed a bill which provides for the classification of the entire population in the country into three separate racial groups.
The bill, part of the Malan government’s racial segregation policy, defines the three racial groups as follows: 1. A person who is European from his appearance or who is generally accepted as European; 2. A person who is a member of a race indigenous to South Africa, or is generally accepted as such; 3. A colored person, who is to be considered neither European nor native.
