The hostilities along the Transjordan-Israel border in the Hebron area continued today and show no signs of ending, it was reported here. At the same time, it began to look as though U.N. Chief of Staff Gen. William E. Riley might take a hand in the deadlocked unofficial negotiations which have not yet succeeded in ending the raids by Transjordan infiltrees in the Negev and Jerusalem areas.
A last-minute hitch today developed in plans to send mixed Israel-Transjordan patrols out along mutual borders. The Arab Legion failed to keep its promise to release three Israel soldiers apprehended after they accidentally crossed the lines into Trans jordan territory, and the Israel Army has refused to enter into the new arrangement until the three are freed.
