Dr. Israel Tabak, president of the Rabbinical Council of America, in an address before the annual convention of the Council, called today for convocation of a nationwide conference of Orthodox Jewish institutions in the United States engaged in fund-raising in order to form a joint fund-raising campaign for Orthodox groups.

An appeal to the rabbis to “make synagogue attendance attractive and even fashionable” was made by Rabbi A. Rosenberg, of Savannah, who also advocated a “uniform service for Orthodox American Jewish communities, provided it does not deviate from Jewish law.” The convention also took up the need for religious textbooks in Jewish religious schools and the question of “establishment of the synagogue as the focal point in Jewish communal life.”
