Israel received yesterday an informal proposal from Transjordan to open the Latrun Road in return for the Jews opening the Bethlehem Road.
The offer was refused because the Israelis felt that traffic on all roads which were ordered opened to traffic under the armistice agreement must be froe. They pointed out that freedom of access to Mt. Scopus was very important to the Jews. The informal discussions between the representatives of the two states will continue in no man’s land tomorrow, but no date has been fixed for a formal meeting of the joint armistice commission.
