The concern felt in Jewish quarters in Germany over the increasing number of convicted Nazis who are being released from jail before their sentences are completed has been deepened by the fact that some of these same Nazis are reentering the political arena.

One such case is that of Dr. Ernst Aschenbach who has reportedly been selected as the Free German Party’s candidate for the post of Minister of Economic Affairs of the province of North Rhine-Westphalia. Dr. Aschenbach was head of the political department of the Nazi Embassy in Paris when it was headed by the notorious Otto Abetz. He participated in conferences which resulted in the deportation of thousands of French Jews.
