Delegates from 26 countries, by a 90 percent majority, voted today to condemn Shechitha, the Jewish ritual slaughter of animals, as “cruel” and “immoral.” The delegates from 116 Associations for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals approved a charge made by H. Kuehnle, of Switzerland, that Jewish ritual animal slaughter was “out of date, cruel toward animals and an immoral act.” The conference decided to set up a permanent world organization for the protection of animals.
