Israel Had No Dealings with Jewish Bank of Frankfurt Dissolved by Hesse Government

Dr. Elijahu Liwneh, Israel Counsul in Munich, has informed the press that no Israel authority had cooperated with the Jewish Bank for Industry and Commerce in Frankfurt which was recently dissolved by the Hesse Governmental Bankers Advisory Office.

Meanwhile, three leading directors of the Bank were arrested by the German police on charges of alleged currency smuggling and fraud. Two other directors are fugitives in Switzerland. According to a statement by the Hesse Finance Ministry the alleged illegal operations involved 4,000,000 marks. The arrested directors are Wilhelm Marrien, Anton Wiendling and Joseph Klibansky, deputy head of the Frankfurt Jewish community.
