Berish Weinstein, Well-known Yiddish Poet, Receives First Moshe Leib Halpherin Award

Berish Weinstein, well-known Yiddish poet, has been awarded the first Moshe Leib Halpern prize of $400 for his epic poem, “Raishe,” it was announced today. The volume deals with Jewish life in Galicia between the two world wars. Funds for the prizes were made available by Dr. Zvi Itzhak Wachtel, who set up a dental library at the Hebrew University.
