M.J. Harris, former mayor of this city and for many years a leader of the Johannesburg Jewish Guild here, died today at the age of 75. He was the son of the late Rev. Mark Harris, one of the first. Jewish ministers in this city. Mr. Harris was elected mayor of Johannesburg in 1923, becoming the second Jew to hold that office.
