Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York Dedicates Building for Powerful X-ray Unit

One of the most powerful cancer treating X-Ray machines ever built, a giant, two-million volt projector, was officially dedicated at New York’s Hospital for Joint Diseases here in its new Lila Motley wing for radiation therapy.

The newly installed machine, built by General Electric, is contained in a circular shaft 30 feet high and is housed in a vault built of concrete walls up to four feet thick. The building also contains two smallers X-Ray units, the William Blau lecture hall, and the School of Practical Nursing.
