The executive of the Histadrut, Israel’s federation of labor, announced today the conclusion of an agreement between the Histadrut-Mapai and the Mapam for “concerted action” in newly-elected municipalities.
The agreement provides for a united, labor and progressive policy in all recently-returned municipalities, envisaging individual coalitions between the two labor movements with other parties or lists, wherever feasible, for presentation of a united labor front.
The agreement also stipulates that whenever local differences arise between the two contracting parties, “the issue will be referred to a central combined committee, sitting within the Histadrut, for ultimate jurisdiction.”
