The Board of Education here voted last night to hold an interfaith conference of Catholic, Protestant and Jewish groups after Jan. 1, 1951, to formulate a policy for the celebration of Christmas in the local public schools.
The resolution was adopted following protests received by the Board against an order issued by the local school superintendent to omit the Nativity scene from Christmas pageants in the schools. The original banning of the scene resulted from protests by three rabbis last year against the inclusion of the Nativity scene in Christmas plays because of possible embarrassment to Jewish pupils.
