Israel Philharmonic Orchestra Arrives in New York Today; Will Give Concerts in 40 Cities

The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, composed of 49 members, will arrive here tomorrow in two specially-chartered planes to start a series of 55 concerts in the United States and Canada. The concerts will be given in 40 cities.

This is the first visit of the orchestra to any country, besides Egypt. The musical supervision of the orchestra’s American tour will be in the hands of Leonard Bernstein and Serge Koussevitzy, noted American conductors. The first concert will be given in New York on January 8. The orchestra’s tour is under the auspices of the American Fund for Israel Institutions.
