A report on the security situation in Israel was submitted to the Cabinet last night by Premier David Ben Gurion, it was officially announced today. The Cabinet also discussed various problems concerning Jewish claims for compensation in Germany and in other countries.

Syrian soldiers yesterday threatened to open fire on a group of Israel fishermen at lake Tiberias. Commanded by a commissioned officer, the Syrians forced the Israelis to abandon their fishing nets at a point where the Jordan River flows into the lake.

Both sides of the river at this juncture are inside Israel territory, and Syria’s frontier is 300 maters distant from the eastern bank of the river, which is in Israel territory. Israel authorities maintain that the Syrians have no right to give them orders since the Israelis are in their own territory.

The fisherman today submitted a complaint to the Israel-Syrian mixed armistice commission. The Israelis say that this is not the first act of provocation committed against them, claiming that they were stoned two weeks ago by Syrian troope.
