The Parliament of Israel today formally protested the rearmament of Germany and its gradual acceptance into the family of nations.

In a resolution supported by virtually all parties except the left-wing Socialist Mapam and the Communists, the deputies objected to the rearmament of both East and West Germany and the establishment of separate armed German units as proposed by the Western Powers. The resolution appealed to all nations of the world and to the United Nations to carry out the complete demilitarization of Germany, halt the supplying of arms to Germany, and punish German war criminals.

The Mapam and Communist deputies refused to support the resolution, calling for a protest only against the recent decision of the Western Powers–at the Brussels Conference–to rearm Western Germany.

Betar, the Revisionist youth movement, today issued a call to Jewish youth organizations throughout the world to join in a united boycott of Germany. Announcing the move to a press conference, Moshe Gold, chairman of the Betar world executive, declared that in the light of German rearmament Jews must consider carefully whether they will fight in the Western forces, ”alongside German murderers of Jews.”
