Canada has offered homes to 50,000 refugees from Europe this year, according to an announcement released here today by the International Refugee Organization. It is hoped by Jewish organizations that there will be quite a number of Jews among the DP’s who will be admitted to Canada in 1951.

Negotiations are being carried on with the Department of Immigration for the admission of a group of dressmakers. As soon as approval is given, the Joint Distribution Committee’s overseas staff will be asked to select the workers in accordance with lists furnished. The intervention of the Canadian Jewish Congress has also been asked to help bring over a group of Yeshiva students now in Belgium.
