Franz Jacob, former Mayor of Furth, was sentenced by the Nuremberg district court to two-and-a-half years imprisonment for leading anti-Jewish demonstrations during the November 1938 pogroms. Jacob was found guilty of participating in the destruction by fire of the Nuremberg synagogue and other Jewish communal buildings. Since Jacob had served that time in detention pending his trial and conviction, he was released.
