The 100th anniversary of the Congregation Adath Israel was celebrated here at a centennial banquet at which Rabbi Israel Goldstein of New York was one of the principal speakers.

The Adath Israel synagogue, which was established 100 years ago in a store, is now one of the largest synagogues in the city. During the course of its existence, it has modified Orthodox policy and now permits women to sit on the same floor level as the men, with only the center aisle separating them. The sermons and some of the ritual are conducted in English. The synagogue’s charter was granted by the General Assembly of Ohio on March 24, 1851.
