The representatives of the Jewish organizations accredited to the United Nations Human Rights Commission, which is currently meeting here, today submitted to the Commission the viewpoints of their organizations on the inclusion of provisions in the draft covenant on human rights for the right of petition for individuals and organizations on violations of the covenant. The representatives of governmental and non-governmental bodies also discussed other measures aimed at implementing the covenant.

Chief Rabbi Alexander Shafran of Switzerland today submitted a memorandum on behalf of the Agudas Israel World Organization asking for an amendment to the proposed Declaration of Rights of the Child now under consideration by the Human Rights Commission. The memorandum refers to the large number of Jewish children whose parents died at the hands of the Nazis and who are now being educated in non-Jewish surroundings. The proposed amendment requests that children be given education in accordance with the faith and the presumed wish of their parents.
