Chaplain Oscar M. Lifshutz has been awarded the U.S, Army’s Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service “in the face of enemy action” in Korea, it was reported today by the National Jewish Welfare Board. He is the first Jewish chaplain to be decorated since the outbreak of the Korean war. Before entering the chaplaincy, he served as rabbi of Temple B’nai Sholom in Chicago.
