The Jewish Agency for Palestine and the Hebrew Sheltering and Engineers Aid Society have concluded an agreement by which Hias will undertake a program of immigrant reception in Israel in coordination with the Jewish Agency’s overall program of immigration and absorption, it was announced here today.

The agreement, the first of its kind between the Jewish Agency and an organization historic primarily agreed in activities outside of Israel, provides that Hias will appropriate an initial outlay of $ 600,000 in the immigrant reception field in coordination with the absorption department of the Jewish Agency.

Funds which Hias will utilize for this program will come from its regular traditional membership campaigns and will not involve special fund-raising activities or allocations from the Jewish welfare funds or the Jewish Agency.
