Zvi Prihar, Israel Postmaster General, today told a press conference here that he was placing “substantial orders” with British firms for telephone equipment for new Israel exchanges.
He hoped, he said, to install between 40,000 and 50,000 new telephone in Israel during the next few years. He added that Israel would soon have a direct line with South America, making a total of 41 countries with Israel direct telephone connections. During the last three years, the Israel Telephone and Telegraph Department had spent $10,000,000 on equipment, he reported.
