A seal of approximately the period of the Prophet Amos and which carries the image of a winged griffin, inscribed with the name of the Hebrew owner, was brought here by Rev. Dr. R.B.Y. Scott, professor of Old Testament in the Faculty of Divinity, McGill University, who carried on studies under the auspices of the American School of Oriental Research in the Arab sector of Jerusalem and Jordan.

The seal was found at Samaria, formerly the capital of Northern Israel. Besides the seal, Dr. Scott brought back a bronze dagger blade, found in a cave near Hebron, and two juglets from the Israelite period, which were used to dip out oil or wine from larger containers. The objects will be exhibited later on in the Museum of Biblical Antiquities here.
