The 60th birthday of Lasar Segall, internationally recognized Brazilian Jewish painter, was marked here this week. Mr. Segall, who was born in Vilna, Poland, settled in Brazil in 1924, was instrumental in organizing the first exposition of modern art in the country. Several of his paintings are now in the United States. He represented Brazil at the International Congress of Independent Art in Paris.
