Sir Francis Edward Evans, former British Consul General in New York and now Assistant Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, has been named British Minister to Tel Aviv, it was announced today.
He succeeds Sir Alexander Knox Helm who has been appointed Ambassador to Turkey Sir Noel Charles, present British Ambassador to Turkey, is retiring soon from the diplomatic service.
