The United Nations Mixed Armistice Commission today ruled that the attack last week by Jordan Arabs against a jeep carrying four Israeli workers–during which two Israelis were killed–was a breach of the existing Israel-Jordan armistice. The Commission called upon the Jordan Government to take immediate steps to arrest and punish the perpetrators and to prevent new incidents.

The decision came during a meeting of two army representatives of each side order the chairmanship of Col. Bennet de Ridder, U.N. representative, who voted with the representatives of Israel. The Jordanians argued that it is not known whether the assailants came from Jordan. However, Col. de Ridder stated that undeniable proof existed that the attack was carried out by Arabs from Jordan.
