The executive of the Vienna Jewish Community has protested against the decision of the local municipality to compensate former Nazis forced to clear areas damaged after the liberation. A special office was opened to deal with the claims. The community protest pointed out that Jews and others were put into forced labor squads by the Nazis and received no compensation for their labor.

The proposed establishment of an Austrian Israel Chamber of Commerce here in the fall will seek to expand the flow of goods between the two countries, it was indicated here today. A preliminary credit agreement of $2,500,000 from the Austrian export fund has been signed to aid Israel in covering her import needs with currency or commodities. Israel is interested in obtaining from Austria prefabricated houses, insulation equipment, tents, dairy equipment, plywood, diesel motors, paint and fire engines.
