A group of Sao Paulo Jews today announced that they have set up an annual $500 prize to be awarded the author of the best book of the year written in Yiddish. The group also announced that the first year’s award would be restricted to an author who has published through the Polish Jewry Publishing Company of Buenos Aires, which has just printed its 75th book. This action was taken in honor of Marc Turkow, founder of the Argentine publishing house, who is now visiting Brazil.
