Seven local synagogues, all that remain of 22 in pre-Nazi Berlin, yesterday marked the Nazi pogrom of 1938 at special services.
Signs outside each of the seven temples read: “This House of God was burned by the Nazi criminals on Nov. 9, 1938.” Inside the reconstructed synagogues, rabbis urged that the past should not stand in the way of new, better relations between the Jewish and German people.
