The United Nations Conciliation Commission on Pales- tine which last week resumed meetings with the Arab and Israel delegations on the Commission’s five-point proposals for a peace settlement, is expected to give up its efforts tomorrow, it was learned today.
The Commission reviewed during the week-end the results of its meetings with the Arab and Israeli delegations and the positions they had taken on the Commission proposals. A spokesman said the Commission would state in writing to the delegations tomorrow its views on the situation. According to reliable sources, the letter will say that no basis exists for further negotiations.
The Commission must submit a report to the current session of the General Assembly before the Palestine question is reached on the Assembly’s agenda. The report is expected to be submitted within ten days.
